The Pilgrimage - Paul Coelho
This book fully expresses his humanist philosophy and the depth of his unique search for meaning. At times when reading this book I found it hard to believe it details of his own journey and is not a fictional effort.
Paul Coehlo embarks on the journey covered by the pilgrims since the middle ages. The Pilgrimage takes us with the author and allows us to experience that journey as if we were passengers. It will allow you to question your own philosophies on life and challenge you to think about how far you are prepared to go to find your own meaning. The pilgrimage is a quest to explore what many of us lose along the way, the ability to just be. To engage in spirituality and and practise with consistency the techniques that allow us to discover our own essence of being. Any traveller will be filled with a sense of wonder reading this book. “When you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situations, the day passes more slowly, and on most journeys you don’t even understand the language the people speak.” Maybe for me the lesson is I don’t always have to understand when I am living through my experiences but can trust that they are all part of my own evolving and rebirthing.
